MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

How many would like to have a gallery in Arroyo Grande?

The room by the SLO Down Pub is no longer available. The Board is still interested in pursuing the idea of a club gallery.

The space would be used for hanging and showing art.  There is a possibility that if it works out we could use that space for meetings, and shows, but that would be in the future.  There are chairs and things to get before that can happen. 

The Town Center Gallery group has a nice gallery they are operating.  It is hidden away, but they have persevered and have made it successful.  They pay rent of $500 a month plus a couple of hundred for utilities.  They hang every other month at a cost of $15 for one painting and $20 for two with a commitment to docent two three hour shifts during the two months. Insurance for liability is $500 a year or $45 a month.

Morro Bay owns their own gallery and makes most of their money by selling booth space to artists during Memorial Day, Labor Day and 4th of July.  They have 120 booths at $125 I believe.

Los Olivos is in a good location, but they do not have bathrooms inside the gallery there.

Hattie from Town Center Gallery gave me the name of the lady that helped with her grant writing and she said she would help us if that is where we decide to go.  That is some of my research, the rest is up to the organization if you want it to happen.

HEART'S DESIRE

Materials for Hearts will be available at the our meetings.  As was available previously, you may choose from 10” x 10” hand-torn 300# watercolor paper or 10” x 10” x 1-3/8” deep gallery wrap  canvas.  Of course, you may also choose both! 

At the meeting, please see Craig Trapp for Heart materials or to turn one in. 

When creating Hearts, please do not use too much texture on the paper ones.  Remember, they are displayed in a clear envelope, and excessive texture may prevent us from properly and safely displaying your beautiful creations.  For those of you who love to create in 3-D, the wrapped canvas would be a better choice.

Matt Wiener was kind enough to bring his display for the Hearts Desire fundraiser. This is the display he uses so successfully at the Avila venue.

The El Camino Art Association website has a section called “Artist Links.”


Any member with their own website can be linked through this page.  Email a photo of yourself or, if you’re shy, your artwork to the webmaster link at the bottom of the web page.  Images need to be larger than 200 pixels high.


Those members without their own website, but would like to share their work, can submit up to six art images (as large as possible), personal photo, a biography, and contact email address.  Home address and phone numbers are not recommended for your privacy and safety.  No pricing will be allowed on the page as the ECAA is not responsible for sales.

FACEBOOK


The El Camino Art Association is on Facebook.  To access the page on Facebook, you can either type into the search panel El Camino Art Association or ECAA.  If you are on our website just click on the Facebook button near the bottom of any page and it will take you directly to the ECAA page.


The ECAA Facebook page has information that may at times be more current than the website.  Those on Facebook that “Like” our page will be notified each time it’s updated. 


Remember you can “share” any of the posts to your network of friends.  Currently we have a post about the upcoming 50th Anniversary Art Show.  If every member on Facebook “shared” that post with their Facebook friends, we would reach hundreds of potential attendees.
